John Smiciklas -  Director, Energy and Environment for Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada)

John Smiciklas is currently the Director, Energy and Environment for Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada) and leads the effort for the BOMA BEST program which includes Canada’s largest sustainable building certification program for existing commercial and institutional buildings and Sustainable Workplaces - the first sustainability program for tenants and organizations. Concurrently, John is also Principal, Sustainability for MJRD Assessment Inc. which provides strategic sustainability consulting and management audit services to a number of global firms in areas of ICT, architecture, engineering and urban planning. John’s prior experience includes roles as Director, Corporate Responsibility Programs (BlackBerry); Manager, Sustainable Business Practice (PwC), Lead Auditor (KPMG) and Consultant (UNDP & ITU). John holds a B.A.Sc., Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, has completed the Business & Sustainability and Climate Change executive programs at the University of Cambridge, UK, is a qualified ISO 9001 lead auditor, developed and leads the verification program for ISO 37120 and is a member of the Canadian ISO technical committees for ISO 37120, ISO 9001 and climate change.
