Managing Director at City Power Johannesburg SOC Ltd
Mr Sicelo Xulu is a professional Engineering Technologist, registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa and has over 20 years of engineering experience. He joined Eskom in 1994 and worked his way up to Senior Technologist working as a Maintenance Management Specialist. In 2002 Mr Xulu joined City Power as a Transmission Senior Engineer, and currently holds the position of Managing Director of City Power.
Sicelo has gained extensive knowledge within the Electricity Distribution Industry which includes the following: Engineering Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Programme, Project Management and Customer Services.,
Mr Xulu’s educational background includes a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from Central University of Technology Free State; a B.Sc Honours from University of Pretoria, a Master Of Philosophy (Mphil) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with University of Jhb, Accelerated Directorship Programme from IoDSA and the Municipal Finance Management Programme with Wits Business School. He holds a Fellow membership with SAIEE (South African Institute of Electrical Engineers), a Certified Director with IoDSA (Institute of Directors), and is currently serving on the following boards: SANEA (South African National Energy Association); Industry Advisory Committee for Electrical Engineering at University of Johannesburg and CENTLEC (SOC). Mr Xulu is a recipient of the 2006 Young Achievers Award from SAIEE, he holds a Corporate Leadership Certificate by MUT - Mangosuthu University of Technology, was recently honored by the Mangosuthu University of Technology at the graduation ceremony for the Faculty of Engineering, and he the 2015 African Utility Executive of the Year Winner – for Africa Utility Week Industry Awards. Mr Xulu is currently the South African representative of Systems Evaluations Group for Smart Cities for IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and the President of The Association of Municipal Electricity Undertakings (AMEU) in Southern Africa.
